What an amazing turn out for our annual Fathers' Day Breakfast.
Despite the rain, there were over 300 egg and bacon sandwiches for dads alone! Thank you, once again, to the P&F and all the helpers, parents and teachers, for their assistance in our expression of gratitude for all our dads mean to us. Unfortunately, the rain meant we were unable to present the liturgy prepared by Kindergarten.
The following is an extract from our Fathers' Day Liturgy:
"We give thanks for all fathers who accept their role to nurture, love, teach, and lead their children. We remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families and the ways they lift their children to achieve dreams thought beyond reach. God, as the perfect Father of all, bless and sustain all who care for children as you care for us. Amen."

Today, we gathered for a beautiful, belated liturgy, to honour our incredible teachers for last week’s World Teachers' Day. At OLA, our teachers are the puzzle pieces that make a difference- each one essential, unique, and making a lasting impact in the lives of our students. We loved celebrating them with awards written by the students themselves and a special keepsake featuring student fingerprints that was a touching reminder of the personal impact our teachers make every single day. What an incredible day of basketball we had at the recent Basketball Gala Day! OLA displayed outstanding sportsmanship, impressive skills, and endless energy throughout the day. We are thrilled to announce that OLA came away with five pool winners- a fantastic achievement! Year 3/4 Boys Year 3/4 Girls Year 5 Girls Year 6 Boys Year 6 Girls This has been one of the most successful Basketball Gala Days OLA has had in years, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students for their teamwork and spirit on the court. Thank you to all the parents and family members who volunteered as Team Managers and cheered on the teams, and to Mrs batten and Miss Whelan who attended too! Your support makes these special days possible and truly memorable for our students.

On Thursday, Year 5 students participated in a Colonial Day. Students were asked to dress up as convicts and settlers who were important in the growth of Australia's Colonies in the late 1700’s and 1800’s. Students had fantastic opportunities in learning about The First Fleet, Early settlements, the Indigenous perspective of Early Colonisation and participating in Colonial Games. Thank you to Mrs Borg, Miss Grima, Mrs Grunsell, Mr Campbell and Mrs McBrien for the organisation of the day.

Last Friday, a group of Year 5 and Year 6 students participated in the second round of the Mark Taylor Shield Cricket Competition. Our opponents were Santa Sophia Catholic College, Box Hill. The students took part in a hard fought competition, finishing with a team total of 111. Unfortunately, we were defeated by our opponents, with Santa Sophia reaching the total in the 27th over. Well done to Flynn, top-scoring with 32 runs, as well as Ashvith with 27 runs. Also, well done to Ben for bowling figures of 3/5. Thank you to Mr Campbell, and the parents and families who assisted on the day!

Our Kindergarten students had an exciting incursion this week with Drama Toolbox- and what a performance it was! Through imaginative play, costumes, and movement, students explored characters, emotions, and storytelling in the most magical way. The incursion gave our Kindergarten students the chance to shine, build confidence, and express themselves through drama. Thank you to the wonderful facilitators for bringing the joy of theatre to life, and to our teachers for supporting such a fun experience!
