Stage 3 Boys Soccer team
Stage 3 boys participated in a Soccer Gala Day at Jamison Park, Penrith.
The boys played 8 games. There were two different teams, a Year 5 team and a Year 6 team. Both teams played exceptionally well and tried their hardest. Most importantly, they all had lots of fun. Thank you to the team managers, Mr Hallal and Mr Sweeney.
A group of enthusiastic girls participated in a Soccer Gala Day at Jamison Park. It was a freezing cold day but we all got through the seven games. The team went amazing winning 3 games, losing 1 and drawing 3 games.
It was tough competition but we carried on and showed great teamwork. At the end of the day we came close to winning but the most important thing is we played our best and had fun!

As part of our Religion unit, "Why are people hungry?" the Year 4 students participated in a sandwich-making activity. The purpose of this activity was to share a meal as a grade from the making (breaking), to the eating. We reflected on the Eucharist and how it nourishes not only physically but spiritually.

Recently, our Year 4 students worked in small groups to collaborate on creating our grade's morning prayer. Students had previously written elements, and each had a voice in selecting which parts they wanted to be a part of the final prayer.

Our Year 6 students also had a fantastic time at their CSPD Encounter Day last Friday! It was a wonderful opportunity for them to connect with fellow Year 6 students from across our diocese, deepen their faith, and reflect on what it means to lead with kindness, integrity, and courage. A real highlight was joining in song with Gen Bryant, creating such a joyful and uplifting moment for our students. The videos on this post show this joy! We are incredibly proud of the way they engaged, participated, and represented our school throughout the day. Thank you to Mrs Hodgess, Mrs Vella, Mrs Bombardiere, and Mr Lee for accompanying our students, and Gen Bryant and Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocesefor providing such a meaningful experience for our Year 6 leaders!

Our Year 6 students have had an incredible start to their final year of primary school. One of the highlights was their recent Leadership Day, where students explored what it means to act justly, walk humbly, and love tenderly with God throughout the year. They took part in team‑building activities that strengthened trust, collaboration, and confidence, enjoyed a well‑earned pizza lunch, and received their own leadership diary to help them stay organised and purposeful. What a fantastic evening we had at our Kinder and New Families BBQ last night. It was such a success and a wonderful way to welcome our newest members into the OLA family. A huge thank you to our amazing P&F and parent helpers, our dedicated teachers, and our Year 6 school leaders who helped, played with the students, and made everyone feel so welcome. Events like this give us such a great opportunity to meet new families, connect, and enjoy time together as a community. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the night so special.

Today, our school community came together to mark the beginning of Lent with a reverent and meaningful Ash Wednesday Mass. It was a special time to pause, pray, and reflect as we received the ashes and were reminded of the call to grow in kindness, hope, and love. We are grateful to share these moments as a school family, supporting one another as we begin this Lenten journey together.

Our Kindergarten students have had a wonderful start to Big School. They’ve been learning about how special they are in Religion lessons, using hands‑on maths equipment to count and explore, making new friends on the playground, visiting the library, and spending time with their Year 6 buddies. To finish off the week, the children practised their fine‑motor skills by creating a special artwork for their families, showing just how much they love them “to pieces.” Their smiles said it all. We’re so proud of how confidently they’re settling in and embracing every part of school life!

Yesterday, some of our Stage 3 students took part in an exciting skills workshop with Joash Papalii and Kitione Kautoga from the Parramatta Eels as part of the @nrl Schools Blitz. The boys ran a session encouraging teamwork, wellbeing, and healthy habits, and our students were eager to learn from them. A highlight was the Q&A session, where students asked thoughtful questions about their footy journeys- their playing history, inspirations, and hopes for the future. The players were generous with their stories and advice, and the kids absolutely loved it. We’re so grateful for the visit. Thanks Joash, and Kitione, you brought great energy to OLA yesterday!
