Year 5 teachers as crayons
Another fabulous Book Week celebration at OLA.
It was fantastic to see the students having a fabulous time dressing up as their favourite book character.
OLA was a sea of costumes ranging from Superman, Dorothy, Matilda, Thing 1 and 2 and many more characters for our Escape to Everywhere theme.
A huge thank you to the families who attended our parade, Rug Reading and our Book Fair. The displays in our library were a marvellous way to celebrate the shortlisted picture books and a chance to see our wonderful new library.
Thank you to the staff for supporting and promoting our Book Week celebrations. It was great to see staff dressing up as their favourite book character. To Mrs Wagner, Mrs Hunt, Mrs Goldsworthy and the teachers who worked tirelessly to set up our Book Fair.

Their exploration of Jackie French’s Fire and Drought this term truly came to life through thoughtful reflections, an amazing poem, expressive artworks, and original rhyming stanzas. The creativity on display was inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they shared their learning with our school community! A big round of applause for the OLA Debating Team on their impressive win against Mary Immaculate, Quakers Hill, last week! Their dedication and hard work truly showed in every argument and rebuttal. Congratulations, team- we’re excited to see where our debating journey takes us next!

Our Year 5 Faith in Action Team attended the Vinnies Encounter Day at St John Paul II College. Students learned about keeping the “fire of Christ” alive by serving others with a listening heart. They explored the challenges faced by people experiencing hardship and how Vinnies offers a hand‑up to help restore dignity and stability. Our students represented OLA proudly- speaking confidently, sharing our Winter Appeal efforts, and even taking on the Patrician Brothers in a game of handball. Thank you to Mrs Petrocco and Mr Lee for accompanying the group.

On Thursday, we celebrated our Athletics Carnival champions as students were recognised for their achievements, receiving place ribbons, age champion trophies, record‑breaking certificates, and cheering on the House Colour overall winners and Spirit Cup champions. Congratulations to Blue House, our overall Athletics Carnival champions, and to Yellow House, proudly taking home the Spirit Cup for their outstanding enthusiasm and teamwork!
