Year One went on an excursion to Taronga Zoo.
Whilst at the zoo, the students gained a deep knowledge and insight about different living animals and the ways in which their needs are met by adapting to their habitats.
They also learnt a few interesting animal facts.It was truly a day of fun and learning!

Today and on Wednesday, our students took part in a special ‘Share a Story’ activity. Classes moved around the school to visit different teachers, who shared some of this year’s Children’s Book Council shortlisted books. It was a wonderful way for students to enjoy new stories, hear different reading voices, and celebrate the joy of books together. Our library is looking amazing! To celebrate Book Week, each grade created a beautiful display inspired by the shortlisted CBCA books. The creativity, colour, and love of reading truly shines through every display. Congratulations to our students and teachers for putting together each display to celebrate these special stories!

Today, our students and staff stepped into the world of stories, dressing up as their favourite book characters and celebrating the joy of reading. The rain kindly waited, giving us the perfect window of time to parade, laugh, and share in the magic of books. Families joined us afterwards for a special reading time together, reminding us of the gift and love of stories that bring us all closer. Thank you to our families for the amazing effort you went to with the students' costumes, and the support you give us in embracing a love of literature within your children. Thank you also to all of the staff involved in today's celebrations! At OLA, we 'READ TO SUCCEED!'

Congratulations to our talented OLA Debating Team and this week's speakers, Janice, Lily, Olivia, and Zara, on an impressive win! In their latest debate against St John XXIII Primary School, our team took the affirmative side of the topic “Water is more precious than gold.” The opposition put forward a strong case, but thanks to OLA’s outstanding preparation, persuasive arguments, and confident speaking skills, our debaters secured a win! We’re so proud of their teamwork and commitment to excellence. Thank you to Mrs McBrien for all of the hard work she always puts into our debating teams.
