The boys working together to finalise the latest addition to our school playground.
The idea of Our Lady of the Angels’ Boys’ Shed came out of a meeting with AusSIP – Australian schools and industry in partnership.
The philosophy is similar to that of The Men’s Shed, to work as a team on a project. The native garden project began about ten months ago and involved one of the teachers, Jan Schroder, working with a group of about 7 boys for half a day every fortnight.
From an ugly and boring dry patch of grass, the team has finished their project today to produce this lovely garden, including a pond. The entire process – measuring and calculating area, length, researching the materials needed, calculating cost involved, writing letters seeking sponsorship as well as the digging and clearing and planting – was carried out by the boys – and they loved it!
Their thanks go to the parents in the school and local businesses who donated items, especially Masters Hardware who sponsored the project.
They have already started working on their next project which is making a new bicycle out of old scraps and parts of old bikes. Firstly, though, they need a slab of concrete and a real shed in which to work. When they see what they have achieved with their garden, they are confident they can make anything happen. The school is working on a Girls' Shed as well!

Yesterday we celebrated our annual Swimming Carnival, and what a fantastic day it was! Students showed incredible sportsmanship, cheered each other on, and gave their very best in the pool. We were thrilled to see amazing records broken and so many personal bests achieved across the events. Thank you to Mrs Batten for organising such a wonderful day, and to our dedicated teachers, parent helpers, and sports captains who assisted throughout the event. We are also grateful to the many parents who came along to support and cheer on the students!24 Nov 2025

Dear Parents As communicated earlier via email, all schools in the area were asked to keep children inside. The police have now notified us that all has been resolved and the lockdown has been lifted. Our school and children have returned to normal. We are extremely proud of the students as they followed our practised procedures beautifully.
