The OLA School community is extremely proud of Hollie F., Jade R., Seronique T. and Claudia C.
The students competed at the State Athletics Carnival representing the MacKillop team in the 4 x 100m relay team at the Sydney Athletics Centre, Homebush.
All four girls were nervous but excited at the same time. The girls ran well and their baton change was flawless. The girls finished 6th in their heat and 27th overall.
This was history in the making for our new school. The girls can be very proud of their achievements as are their parents who were there to support them. Well done girls.
The girls huddled together and giving each other words of encouragement.

What a wonderful afternoon we had at OLA, where our Year 4 students showcased many of the fantastic things they've been learning this term. They began with a thoughtful prayer about the Visitation of Mary, showed some amazing Sidney Nolan-inspired Ned Kelly artworks, and even presented a persuasive debate asking: Was Ned Kelly a bully or a victim? We certainly learnt a lot about this fascinating figure in Australian history! Well done to our OLA Debating team #1, consisting of Ryan, Emma, Jenessa, and Mason, who proudly represented our school in their first interschool debate last week! As the affirmative team on the topic “Technology makes us less connected,” they impressed the adjudicators with their presentation skills, research, teamwork, and organisation- and came away with a WIN! Well done, Team 1 — we’re so proud of you! A special thank you to Mrs McBrien for always preparing and supporting our debaters on their journey!

This month, our students from Years 1-6 proudly participated in a Writing Festival, showcasing their creativity and storytelling skills. Each class selected two outstanding writers as their class winners, and they were recognised at today’s special assembly with an award and a writing journal. Congratulations to all of these students! We’re thrilled to announce our Stage Winners are: - Aubrey from Stage One - Carlos from Stage Two, and - Sofia from Stage Three Their incredible writing will now go on to represent our school in the NSW WriteOn competition — an amazing achievement! Well done to all of our students for participating in this event. A big thank you to all the parents who joined us today, and to Mrs Kennedy for organising this inspiring event!

It's the second OLA rival Footy game of the season tonight- who will win? Mr Calabria's Manly Sea Eagles or Mr Cauchi's Parramatta Eels? This round, our fun Wacky Wager between Mr Calabria and Mr Cauchi has been declared a truce, as Mr Calabria is currently on leave. The scoreboard remains untouched… for now! Today, we joined National Simultaneous Storytime by reading 'The Truck Cat'! Across the country, children came together to enjoy this heartwarming tale about a cat who finds an unexpected home on the road — and the truckie who learns that even tough journeys are better with a friend by your side. This story was about friendship, belonging, and the idea that home isn’t just a place — it’s the people (and pets!) you share it with. At OLA, we loved sharing in the joy of storytelling today!

Year 3 had a blast during their Science Incursion with Ranger Jamie’s team this week! They explored forces through hands-on activities like slime-making, billy cart rides, and rocket launching. The highlight? A liquid nitrogen explosion that sent 1,000 ping pong balls flying! Ranger Tash praised our students for their enthusiasm and said OLA was the cleanest school she’s visited. Well done, Year 3!
