The 12yr old boys at the start of the run.
This year, OLA held its annual Cross Country at the Hills Centenary Park.
All the students from Years 2-6 that wanted to compete competitively and earn a place to compete in the Parramatta Diocesan Event had an early start to the day with a walk from the school grounds with their class teacher. Everyone that turned or was turning 11 or 12 this year had to run 3 km and the students that turned or are turning 8 to 10 had to run 2km.

For the 3km race they had to run the 3 laps around the oval and go down the hill twice, then do another lap around the oval until they reached the finish line where Mr Cauchi was waiting to give us our place.
Then to start the 2km race, the 10 years boys and girls started to race. Then it was time for the 8 and 9 year boys and finally the 8 and 9 year girls were last to race. With the 2km race, the students only had to run two laps of the oval and down the hill once.
Even though the track was wet, all students were still able to run competitively. Good luck to all those students who made it through to compete at the Diocesan Cross Country next term. Thank you Miss Pepin, teachers and parents who organised the event.

A huge congratulations to Aiyonce in Year 5, whose cricket journey continues to soar! Last year, she proudly represented the MacKillop cricket team for CSPD- and this year, she’s been selected for the NSW Girls U13s team! During the holidays, Aiyonce received her first-ever NSW Blues cap from none other than Sarah Coyte, and she’ll be heading to Ballarat at the end of the month to compete in the interstate championships. She’s also the youngest member of the team- and was even featured in The Daily Telegraph this week! We’re so proud of you, Aiyonce- your dedication, talent, and team spirit are truly inspiring! What a brilliant way to kick off Term 4. Yesterday, our 9 teams of OLA students represented our school with pride at the Netball Gala Day in Penrith, showing outstanding sportsmanship, resilience, and true OLA team spirit, even while playing in the heat. A huge congratulations to all teams for their wonderful efforts throughout the day. A special mention goes to our U10 Girls and Junior Boys Teal teams, who went undefeated and were crowned Gala Day Winners! We sincerely thank our amazing parent helpers, as well as the Marian students and ex-OLA high school students, for giving up their time to assist, support, and umpire our teams. Your help made the day run so smoothly. Finally, a big thank you to our teachers Mes Batten, Miss Digwood, Mrs Hodgess and Miss Wahab for organising, assisting, and cheering on our students. What an incredible start to the term, we are so proud of you all!
