Stage 3 Soccer Gala Day

21 Sep 2017

Stage 3 Boys Soccer team

Stage 3 boys participated in a Soccer Gala Day at Jamison Park, Penrith.

The boys played 8 games. There were two different teams, a Year 5 team and a Year 6 team. Both teams played exceptionally well and tried their hardest. Most importantly, they all had lots of fun. Thank you to the team managers, Mr Hallal and Mr Sweeney.

A group of enthusiastic girls participated in a Soccer Gala Day at Jamison Park. It was a freezing cold day but we all got through the seven games. The team went amazing winning 3 games, losing 1 and drawing 3 games.

It was tough competition but we carried on and showed great teamwork. At the end of the day we came close to winning but the most important thing is we played our best and had fun!

Attention Year 5 & 6 Families! We’re so lucky to have a vibrant parish youth group led by the amazing Erica and Elysia, who are passionate about creating fun, faith-filled experiences for our students. Don’t forget about Angels Hangout — happening every Thursday afternoon during term time. It’s a great chance for students to connect, grow in faith, and have fun with friends! PLUS… these school holidays, students are invited to join the exciting In-House Retreat — a special time of reflection, games, and activities! For more info, please reach out to the parish!

Congratulations to our amazing OLA debaters who took part in a unique and exciting debate this week — with our two school teams going head-to-head! The topic: “Laughter is the best medicine” sparked some fantastic arguments and confident public speaking from all involved. Well done to every team member for your thoughtful contributions and great teamwork. A big thank you to Mrs McBrien for preparing the students so well, and to the parents and students who came along to support!

Today, our amazing Year 5 students led a fantastic Whole School assembly, showcasing their learning from this term in areas such as Religion, English, and Visual Arts. They shared persuasive arguments about why Macquarie Island should continue to be protected, displayed creative artwork about environmental hazards, and especially wowed us with their re-enactment of key events from the Acts of the Apostles. We can't get their song 'Holy Spirit Fire' out of our heads! Thank you to our excellent Year 5 teachers for guiding this learning, and to all the families and friends who joined us today — what a celebration of learning!

On Wednesday, OLA proudly entered two teams in the Stage 3 Boys Soccer Gala Day — and both teams were outstanding, finishing equal first in their pools! It was a fantastic day filled with great soccer, teamwork, and true sportsmanship. Our boys played with heart, skill and showed respect to all their opponents throughout the day. A huge thank you to Mr Hughes, Mrs Brackenbury, Mr Bruckard, and Mrs Barry for supporting the teams, and to Mr Cauchi and Mrs Batten for all their hard work in organising the day. We’re also grateful to Mr Campbell for coming along to support, supervise, and cheer them on!

Our talented Year 4 students have been hard at work creating amazing biomes as part of their Geography unit! From deserts to rainforests, they explored how plants, animals, and climates connect in different environments. This week, Kindergarten visited the Church to explore and learn about its special features. Using a simple map of the inside of the Church, the children were able to find and talk about important areas such as the altar, baptismal font, lectern, Paschal candle, and tabernacle.
