Students in Years 1 to 4 attended the Windsor Function Centre to participate in the Verse Speaking section of the Hawkesbury Eisteddfod, run by the Hawkesbury City Council.
"We had to get on stage and perform two different styles of poems and competed against many schools. It was very nerve racking experience getting on stage and performing our poems to lots of parents, judges and students"said Eoin in Yr 4.
"Even though it was a challenge, it is a very good experience as we learnt how to present poems using expression to deliver our poems and standing up in front a large group of people," added Charli.
Congratulation to Year 1 for their Highly Commended, Year 2 for 2nd Place, Year 3 for 1 st Place and Year 4 for 4th Place.

Last week, our Year 6 and Kindergarten students enjoyed a final catch‑up with their buddies, sharing smiles, memories, and exchanging special gifts. Having buddies is such a special part of life at OLA, creating friendships, role models, and moments the children will treasure long after the year ends!

In Science this term, Kindergarten has been learning all about forces. Last week, the children used recycled materials to design and make a functioning ramp. The children then used round objects to test whether their ramp would successfully allow the item to roll down. They had so much fun creating their own little masterpieces!

Congratulations to all of our students who achieved a Gold Award in the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. This award recognises students who have successfully completed the challenge four times. An extra special congratulations to Caleb and Divit for completing the Premier’s Reading Challenge seven times and achieving a Platinum Award! At OLA, we 'Read to Succeed'!

Today at OLA, we gathered for our End of Year Mass, giving thanks for the blessings of 2025 and celebrating our community of faith, fun, and learning. We farewelled our wonderful Year 6 students as they prepare for the next stage of their journey, and expressed gratitude to Miss Whelan and Mr George for their dedication and service as they move on from our school. We also proudly announced our new leadership team for 2026, who will guide us into another year filled with hope, joy, and growth together. Thank you to everyone involved in such a beautiful celebration!

On Monday, we had a splash-tacular day! We celebrated our OLA Waterslide Day with endless laughter, squeals of joy, and plenty of sunshine. The kids (and teachers) had an absolute blast zooming down the slides, cooling off, and making memories together!!

Today, we proudly celebrated our students who graduated from the EMU Maths program. These learners have worked hard all year, showing clever thinking and building confidence in using a range of maths strategies. A huge thank you to Mrs Hodgess and Ms Swain for running the programs and guiding our students with such dedication and care. We are so proud of our EMU graduates- what an achievement!

This morning we celebrated a very special group of students at our traditional Student of the Term Assembly (Principal’s Award), followed by a lovely morning tea with Mr Calabria and Mr Cauchi. Each student was chosen by their teachers for their consistent effort, kindness, and positive attitude throughout Term 4. As the final assembly for the year, it was a joy to acknowledge their dedication and achievements- what a wonderful way to finish 2025. We are so proud of them!
