Students in Years 1 to 4 attended the Windsor Function Centre to participate in the Verse Speaking section of the Hawkesbury Eisteddfod, run by the Hawkesbury City Council.
"We had to get on stage and perform two different styles of poems and competed against many schools. It was very nerve racking experience getting on stage and performing our poems to lots of parents, judges and students"said Eoin in Yr 4.
"Even though it was a challenge, it is a very good experience as we learnt how to present poems using expression to deliver our poems and standing up in front a large group of people," added Charli.
Congratulation to Year 1 for their Highly Commended, Year 2 for 2nd Place, Year 3 for 1 st Place and Year 4 for 4th Place.

Today, our OLA students joined children all across Australia for Simultaneous Storytime, diving into the joyful adventure of Luna Roo. Our students were completely absorbed, not just in the story, but also in the directed drawing that followed. They loved bringing Luna and her world to life through art, showing just how powerful books can be in inspiring creativity. This was a wonderful celebration of reading, storytelling, and shared learning at OLA!

Kindergarten and Year 6 shared a very special moment this week. Kindergarten were learning that we are all made in the image of God- each of us unique, with our own similarities and differences, yet equally loved. Year 6 have also been exploring how God gives everyone different gifts, and why those gifts matter in our world. During our buddy visit, each student drew a portrait of their buddy. It was such a beautiful reminder of how our youngest and oldest learners work together.

Our Kindergarten students have been learning all about kindness in Religion this term. They explored what it means to show kindness to others and created their own colourful kindness rocks to remind us that small acts of love can make a big difference. We’re so proud of their gentle hearts and the way they are already living out kindness in our school community.

Year 5 had a fantastic time at their clay art incursion last week! Students spent the session creating their own clay cake sculptures, learning how natural clay is made and how to shape and add creative toppings. It was a fun, hands‑on way to explore sculpture techniques and express their artistic ideas. We loved seeing their focus, creativity, and pride in their finished pieces!

Last week, our Year 6 junior scientists had an unforgettable day at Bungarribee Park! Students joined Ranger Jaime for a hands‑on science session exploring the states of matter. They launched paper rockets, mixed up oobleck, and watched vinegar‑and‑bicarb rockets blast off as they investigated real‑life chemical reactions. A huge thank you to Ranger Jaime for such an engaging and wonderfully messy day of learning. Thank you to our Year 6 teachers for organising such a great day, and to our parent helpers for your assistance on the day!

On Friday, our Year 5 students led a fantastic whole‑grade assembly. To begin the assembly, they presented a beautiful Pentecost prayer, inviting us to reflect on the Holy Spirit and the joy it brings to our community. They also shared their learning about Macquarie Island, demonstrating strong research skills and confident speaking. We loved the persuasive drama performance too!! Thank you to our Year 5 students and teachers, and to everyone who attended!
