Year One went on an animal filled excursion to the Sea Life Aquarium and the Wild Life Zoo.
Since Year One is learning about Living Things, it was a perfect experience for the students to see and learn about so many different animals, found around the world.
We started our day by going through the Aquarium and exploring the underwater world. The students were fascinated at every window, watching the fish, jellyfish and huge spider crabs crawling around. Walking through the tunnel was a major hit with the students.
They didn't know where to look and were amazed at every turn. The sharks and dugongs were their favourite, these massive creatures swimming over our heads as we walked through. We weaved and winded through the Aquarium and even got a chance to touch and feel starfish and shark eggs. The students wanted to stay but hungry tummies called them to lunch.
After lunch, our next visit was to the Wild Life Zoo. The students couldn't wait to see what was in there. One of the first attractions was walking through the tropics, surrounded by butterflies flying around. This was such a beautiful experience.
As we continued along, the students got to touch a large diamond python and see a range of different native snakes. They got a chance to see a range of native Australian animals, like echidnas, wallabies and wombats and even walked through a nocturnal room. They had a rare chance to see bilbies running around and bats flying. The highlight for the students was the 5 metre long crocodile they saw hiding at the bottom of the water.
The students, parents and teachers all had an amazing time. We all learnt so much and came back to school excited to learn more.
