It was so much fun making slime and playing with this gooey slime.
This term in Science and Technology, the students in Year Two have been learning about different materials in a unit titled ‘Material World.’
This is a unit about how different materials are created, used and changed. We have been investigating the properties of both natural and man-made materials.
Year Two participated in a Science-filled day. On this day children were able to participate in a number of Science experiments and watched a ‘Big Science Show’ by Fizzic Education.
They made slime, sherbet and even blew giant bubbles. They also investigated the effects of mixing water, oil and food colouring. They even cooked their own pizza by mixing different ingredients together.
Year Two learnt a lot about the ways materials change or react when combined and heated.

On Wednesday, OLA will join millions of children across Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime- all reading Luna Roo at the same time! This story follows Luna the kangaroo and her friends as they chase their footy dreams across the outback, celebrating teamwork, courage, and having a go. We can’t wait to share this moment of reading, connection, and storytelling with our students. At OLA, we 'Read to Succeed'!24 May 2026

Kindergarten and Year 6 shared a very special moment this week. Kindergarten were learning that we are all made in the image of God- each of us unique, with our own similarities and differences, yet equally loved. Year 6 have also been exploring how God gives everyone different gifts, and why those gifts matter in our world. During our buddy visit, each student drew a portrait of their buddy. It was such a beautiful reminder of how our youngest and oldest learners work together.
