Students recording their findings about their experiment.
Year 5 students participated in our 'Crazy Science Day'. This was part of our Project Based Learning (PBL) entry activity for our new Science unit for the Term. The unit is all about Solids, Liquids and Gasses
Each student had the opportunity to participate in 6 different experiments that showcased the properties of solids, liquids and gasses. The experiments were: Making a Bouncy Ball, Quicksand Goo, Dry-Ice Crystal Ball, Mini-Water Cycle, Hot and Cold Water and Investigating Gases.

The day wouldn't have been possible without the help of our wonderful parent volunteers who kindly gave up their time in order to run the experiments. We are so grateful for your contribution to the OLA community. Thank you Mrs Ormsby, Mrs Cleary, Mrs Swinden, Mrs Colossimo, Mrs Lesar, Mrs Eldred, Mrs Johnston, Mrs Stafford, Mrs Fischer, Mrs Burt and Ms Xuereb.
It was a fun-filled day and it allowed the students to gain a great deal of background knowledge on how Solids, Liquids and Gases change processes.

Today we joyfully celebrated the beginning of Catholic Schools Week with a beautiful liturgy led by our Student Leaders. Reflecting on the Samaritan woman at the well in the Gospel of John, we were reminded that Jesus meets us in the ordinary moments of our lives and fills us with “living water” — hope, grace and renewal. It was a powerful reflection on our mission in Catholic education: to nurture faith-filled learning, inspire excellence, and empower every child to grow, thrive and live out the Gospel through faith, learning and service. A sincere thank you to Ms Grima for thoughtfully organising our celebration, and to our School Captains for leading and presenting the liturgy so reverently today.
